A second suspect has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a man who was watching over a property on the city’s South Side, according to law enforcement officials.
Authorities said the arrest marks another significant development in the ongoing homicide
investigation. The suspect was taken into custody following weeks of investigative work involving witness interviews, evidence collection, and coordination between multiple law enforcement units.
The victim was reportedly serving as a caretaker for the South Side property when the deadly incident occurred. Police responded to reports of gunfire and found the man suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite emergency medical efforts, he was pronounced dead.
Investigators believe multiple individuals were involved in the crime. A first suspect had already been arrested earlier in the investigation, and prosecutors have filed charges related to the homicide. The newly arrested suspect is expected to face similar charges pending court proceedings.
Officials have not released additional details about the motive, citing the active
nature of the investigation. Detectives continue to review evidence and are asking anyone with information about the case to contact local law enforcement or submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.
Family members and neighbors have expressed relief that another arrest has been made but said they continue to seek justice for the victim. Community leaders also called for continued cooperation with investigators to ensure everyone responsible is held accountable.
The second suspect is expected to make an initial court appearance in the coming days, where a judge will review the charges and determine conditions for detention or release. Prosecutors indicated that the investigation remains ongoing and that additional arrests are possible if new evidence emerges.
